Studio Visit: Olga Milczynska

Born in 1982, Warsaw-based ceramic artist Olga Milczynska is a graduate of the ceramics department of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. She gained practical knowledge in ceramics workshops in Great Britain, France, Denmark, and South Korea.

In her works she deals with the topics of time and tradition. She is interested in traditional techniques and their impact on the modern human environment.

Olga Milczynska

“Combining the old with new, the found with the made, the unwanted with the re-created, the natural with the produced makes up my artistic language.”

Artist’s Studio pictures: Marta Pruska.

The latest body of work by Milczynska, The Kunstkamera Collection, exclusively presented at Frederika Galerie, was born out of reflection on mass tourism, destruction of the environment and landscape as an idea.

Biomorphic vases and sculptures were made of stoneware and covered with glaze, often several times for the right effect.
