Ceramic Vase No. 4 by Monika Dabrowska-Picewicz
This sculptural stoneware vase by ceramic Artist, Monika Dabrowska-Picewicz was hand crafted in 三島焼 Mishima. This traditional Japanese technique originally refers to pottery characterised by being roughly made and often uneven, thus epitomising the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi. Dabrowska-Picewicz adapted it into modern ceramics language by inlaying slip, underglaze with contrasting clay, creating beautiful nature’s inspired patterns on the surface.
“I wanted to create a collection rich in variety of forms and structures, but still remaining a strong coherent composition. All the works were handbuilt with the coiling technique from gray stoneware and brown chamotte. ” she says.
One-of-the-kind with Artist’s signature embossed on the bottom. Exclusively created for FREDERIKA GALERIE.
