Catherine Dix: Les Bouteilles.

Born in 1970 in Paris, ceramic artist Catherine Dix settled in the Périgord Vert near Brantôme, France in 2021.

Catherine began working around the bottle when she first discovered ceramics in 2012 after a reconversion. She gradually moved away from the primary use of the bottle by making the shapes more complex. Some have become sculptural, the archaic aspect always remaining present.

Her ceramics are thought as small architectures, sometimes perched on high legs. A game of construction takes place, in search of the perfect balance.

Particularly captivating because of the sense of mystery and the archaic origin they inspire, Catherine Dix’s sculptures have a primary beauty, vaguely anthropomorphic, clearly structured.
